Audio-Atlas is preparing to publish hands-on equipment reviews. No hands-on review has been published here yet. The following sets out the approach for future reviews; it does not claim these procedures have already been used in published testing.

Three kinds of content—three different claims

  • Directory listings identify companies, publications, services, and tools. Inclusion is informational, not an endorsement or evidence that Jeremy has tested a product.
  • Research guides explain practical topics and link to their sources. They are not hands-on equipment reviews.
  • A hands-on review will identify the person who used the equipment, the review period, the system, and what was actually observed. No review score or listening judgment will be inferred from a manufacturer description.

Document the setup before the verdict

  • Explain where the component fits in the system and what it replaces.
  • Record connections, gain settings, processing, and meaningful setup changes.
  • Discuss everyday operation, build quality, compatibility, and reliability observed during the review period—not an unsupported long-term reliability prediction.
  • Describe listening impressions in the context of recordings and listening conditions where useful.
  • For comparisons, match playback levels as closely as practical and explain the method and limitations. Do not call a comparison blind, calibrated, or controlled unless it actually was.
  • Include original equipment or room photographs when available and permitted.
  • Distinguish measurements actually performed from manufacturer specifications and subjective impressions.

Loan equipment and editorial independence

Future reviews will disclose whether equipment was purchased, loaned, or supplied, and identify relevant commercial relationships. Loan and return arrangements will be agreed before equipment is accepted.

Audio-Atlas will retain editorial control. Supplying equipment does not guarantee a positive review. Listing a manufacturer in the directory does not make that company a review partner.

Factual corrections are welcome through the existing contact page. A correction will not turn product research into a claim of firsthand use.

Information for manufacturers and distributors

Audio-Atlas welcomes inquiries about equipment for hands-on evaluation. The current reference system provides a starting point for considering streamers, DACs, preamplifiers, power amplifiers, loudspeakers, and compatible accessories. Suitability and connections will be checked for each proposed product.

Use the existing contact channel and include your company name, contact email, product/model, product link, relevant specifications, proposed loan or sample arrangement, availability, and return requirements. Please do not send equipment until the arrangement has been agreed.
